Saturday, July 1st Open Studio at the Painted Pineapple – Madison
For the entire month of June and July, the Painted Pineapple in Madison is having an “open studio” Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. An open studio means you can drop in and enjoy one of the many different crafts they have going on for that day. You choose a project from the “buffet” which could be anything from painting birdhouses, making a puppet, or creating a door hanger. Prices range from $5-$16 a project. Hours are: Thursday 6-8PM, Friday 10-12PM, Saturday 10-12PM. They also have several different summer camps for the month of July. Saturday, July 1st Brass Transit – Greensboro
If you love music from Chicago’s Golden age then you must come out to this summer celebration presented by OPAS at the Oconee driving range in Reynolds Lake Oconee. Hear Bass Transit play all the greatest songs from the golden ages. This a family event so bring the kids out. There is no parking available at the range – if you’re a member then you can park in the Lake Club parking lot, if you’re not a member there will be a shuttle service provided in the Lake Oconee Village Commerce parking lot. Farmview Market is celebrating our local heroes by hosting a pre-4th of July celebration. The farmers market will be open to view, local vendors will be offering samples and there will be live music. Tuesday, July 4th Fourth of July Celebration – Eatonton
Reynolds Lake Oconee will be hosting their annual Red White and Boom celebration on Monday in Great Waters. You must be a member of Reynolds to attend this event, unless you’re viewing by boat! The event starts at 5:00PM, at 6:00PM food stations will open and at dark the fireworks will start! Tickets are $28/adult, $13.50/children ages 4-12. Children under 4 are free. Tuesday, July 4th Fourth of July Celebration & BBQ – Buckhead (the real one ? )
The city of Buckhead and the Morgan County Fire Department are hosting their annual Fourth of July Celebration and BBQ. Seriously, these are some of the best fireworks around. Buckhead does such a great job creating a fantastic show for the community and they’ve been doing it for many, many years! Food will be served from 6:00PM-8:00PM and plates are $8/piece; fireworks start at dark. There will also be raffles, children’s games, live entertainment and much more! The event is free to attend (unless you’re eating) and will take place (as it does every year) at the Buckhead Volunteer Fire Department. There will be various parking areas, just look for the signs! The “Meet Me at the Plaza” Summer Concert Series will be featuring the Kurt Thomas Band at the Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. The Kurt Thomas Band is originally from Dahlonega, Georgia and has opened for artists such as Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn and the Zac Brown Band. The concert starts at 7:00PM and tickets are $10. Monday, July 17th – Friday July 21st Summer Art Camp – Eatonton
Let the kids explore their creativity in the Summer Art Camp at The Plaza Arts Center in Eatonton. The camp is one week and will begin at 9AM with pick up time at 12:30PM. Children will be able to participate in activities such as painting and knitting and will be able to showcase their work on Friday, where family is invited to attend a “show and tell”. “Party with a purpose” at this fun event at the Eatonton Cotton Warehouse. You’ll hear music from the Swingin’ Medallions and local musician Joey Vargas. There will be contests for the best decorated table and if you come early enough you’ll be able to meet the band! The event begins at 7:00PM and The Swingin’ Medallions will be performing at 9:00PM. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to families in need.
